MODULE 9:
What Are You Doing: Your Part or the Same Things That Got You Stuck?

This story from Portia Nelson may sound familiar at this stage in your healing process:

I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in the same place. But, it isn’t my fault. It still takes me a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there. I still fall in. It’s a habit. My eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it. I walk down another street.

At this stage in your process, your spine and nerve system are likely moving fully into another level of care, where you have the opportunity to feel and function on a higher level than before. You’ll also start noticing where you’ve been falling down a hole between your visits. You are likely shifting toward walking around your metaphorical manholes! If so, you are right on track! That’s the classic impact of mixing Network Spinal Care with the specific exercises you’ve received. Thank you for doing your part!

Acknowledging You’re Stuck

Healing isn’t a passive process. Getting healthy and staying that way will require you to put in time and energy, to make some changes. You’ll need to notice how your actions, your thinking, and your postures are currently getting you stuck and keeping you that way! At this stage, you’ll also hopefully start noticing the parts of YOU that are holding you back.

It’s not just the parts of your body that you must look at and acknowledge, but your stuck thoughts, beliefs, and ways of being. Stage 3 is about being stuck and how to get unstuck! It’s a lot easier to move through Stage 3 when you’ve been practicing Stages 1 and 2 for a few weeks beforehand. Please be patient and review the previous processes.

For this week, in addition to exploring Stage 3, practice your Stage 1 and 2 exercises daily and feel free to revisit some of the previous videos. You might see something you SWEAR wasn’t in that video before, because as your spine and nerve system get healthier, you’ll literally see things with new eyes. And you’ll hear things with new ears. Your brain will “hear” it differently. Remember, you experience your whole life through your nerve system. Each week, through your chiropractic appointments and through supporting your adjustments by applying these seemingly simple exercises, your nerve system is getting healthier and healthier!
